Saturday #2 - March 3, 2012

Hard to believe that we've survived our first week home!  We had a number of visitors come by...

Grandpa Colwell got to see Devon for the first time and realize just how heavy 10 pounds can be.

Fenna Owens (our good friend from church) got to claim some baby time.  She's excited to be his "Florida" grandma and is going to teach him to speak Dutch .

On this particular Saturday, we have Devon's first official photography session by Katie Hyser.  She was so patient and loving with him and got some great shots (and a couple really cute butt shots that we won't publish on the internet, but will drag out when he's 15!)

Saturday #1 - February 25, 2012

Our first Saturday home with Devon after the hospital stay at Winnie Palmer.  We had reached out to our Florida family for some help and the Lumbert's came to the rescue!  Jeanette and her girls, Abby and Averie, showed up with food and open arms to hold a cuddly baby.  Jeanette had made up a crockpot of her homemade spaghetti sauce and all the fixings for a future meal (or three!) for us, along with a bag of marinated chicken and all the sides for a BBQ evening.  We were so grateful for their company as we tried to figure out what to do with our new bundle of joy.  Mommy even fit in a nap on the couch :)

This was also the first Saturday (of MANY!) that Devon donned duckies!  How fantastic is it that Saturday is college football day, too ?!?

Everyone got in some baby-lovin time - even the sometimes shy Averie!

940 Saturdays

I was reading today about how many Saturdays there are between birth and college for a child - 940 (give or take).  That just seems so few in the life of a two-parent working family to try to squeeze out all we can of our life with Devon James.  And so begins our Saturday journey - rather than count down, we are going to count up starting with Saturday, February 25, 2012.

30 Days of Lists - Sept 10 (14th)

Ok, catching up doesn't always work when the topic is "At this moment", so we jump ahead to the future which is 11:15am ET on Sept 14th.

At This Moment...

**  Catching up on blog posts and lists that I haven't made

** Delaying the work on my to do list

** Listening to a conference call with half an ear - I'm sure there is something that will be really important at some point in this 60 minute call

** Wondering when I can plan for future scrap days before the holidays take over

30 Days of Lists - Sep 9

Yep, still catching up, so these were our weekend plans from last week.

Weekend Plans...

** Hanging at Disney with friends that are visiting in town (Patty and Angela) - try not to burn or melt into the pavement

** Sleep In... that's what the weekend is for, right?

** Eat Well - weekend breakfast, special dinners - love the weekend food

** Scrapping with the girls on Friday night - have tons of projects I want to finish and the calendar seems to be getting crowded as the holidays approach and baby day is just after that.

30 Days of Lists - Sep 8

Things That Remind Me of My Childhood...

** Boats on a lake - that was how we spent every summer, the early morning drive up to the lake and spending the whole day hanging out in the boat.

** Pea gravel - ya, it's weird, but in the first house that I remember living in there was a pea gravel walkway and I recall spending hours trying to dig through those rocks looking for the agates

** Campgrounds - along with boating, our family vacations were camping - we went several places that I can remember and when we pass a campground today, I remember how much fun we had

** Barbie Swimming Pool - this had to be the most expensive toy I was ever given for a birthday and for me not being a pink or Barbie kind of girl, I LOVED that thing - it even had a shower on the side you could pump water out of to rinse off the doll after playing in the dirty water

So many more little items will pop up on Pinterest or circulate in those "you know you grew up in the 90's emails."

30 Days of Lists - Sept 7

I'm Not Very Good At...

** Saying No - work projects, personal favors - it doesn't really matter, I just can't bring myself to say NO when I think that someone needs help - it often leads me to feeling more than my fair share of the burden, but still can't say NO

** Finishing Craft Projects - I have so many half-started projects that I just am tempted to toss them all out and start with a clean slate!

** Running - never have I enjoyed running - not in grade school when I tried out for the high-jump, not in junior high when we had to run for the basketball team practice, not when I got older and could just do it for "fun" - ha!
